Published: April 09, 2010

North Cascades National Park Complex invites you to celebrate National Park Week by getting outside, being active, and helping to care for your park. Two family-friendly volunteer opportunities take place soon.

April 20: North Cascades Highway (State Route 20) Litter Pickup

Mosey along the scenic highway through the park and pick up litter before the summer crowds begin whizzing by. Enjoy camaraderie, scenery, and wildlife. Meet at the Wilderness Information Center in Marblemount at 8:30 a.m. or call Joyce Brown at 360-854-7301 to join the carpool from Sedro-Woolley that meets at 7:30 a.m. at the Park and Forest Information Center. Please bring water, lunch, and a pair of work gloves.

April 22 (Earth Day): Newhalem Creek Campground Spring Cleaning

Celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day by helping to prepare the Newhalem Creek Campground for the busy season ahead. Landscape with native plants, maintain campsites, and improve trails. Meet at the Newhalem Creek Campground at 9:00 a.m. or call Joyce Brown at 360-854-7301 to join the carpool from Sedro-Woolley that meets at 7:30 a.m. at the Park and Forest Information Center. Please bring water, lunch, and a pair of work gloves.

?Being active with your family while caring for your park is a great way to celebrate National Park Week,? said Chip Jenkins, Superintendent of North Cascades National Park Complex. ?And, of course there are also many other opportunities for you and your family to explore, and have fun, in your park this summer.?
