Located where the Sultan River flows into the Skykomish, Sultan, Washington is a community with a rich history of logging, mining and agriculture. Today, Sultan has an economy focused on healthy small business and local recreation – the area around this lovely small city is known for excellent salmon and steelhead fishing as well as hiking, river rafting, and camping.
If you happen to visit Sultan in the fall, you may be lucky enough to witness the dramatic struggle of 20,000 pink salmon fighting their way up the Sultan River to spawn. The town’s Osprey Park offers a front-row view of this exciting event that takes place every other year.
During the summer Sultan hosts the annual Sultan Summer Shindig, which features logging games, food, street vendors, and carnival rides.
Whether the draw is outstanding recreation opportunities, the Summer Shindig, or simply taking in the sights of this small but vibrant city, there is plenty to explore.
