Cashmere

Located between Wenatchee and Leavenworth along the banks of the Wenatchee River, Cashmere is the geographic center of Washington. Averaging over 300 days of sunshine a year, you’re nearly guaranteed a beautiful day to take part in some of the abundant recreational opportunities. Enjoy some of the best kayaking and rafting in the state on the Wenatchee River.

Cashmere is also just a stone’s throw away from great climbing at the Peshastin Pinnacles, hiking in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness and cross-country skiing in Leavenworth. Mountain bikers can explore the famous 23-mile Devil’s Gulch loop just outside of town. Home to "Aplets & Cotlets," Cashmere is a great place to indulge your sweet tooth as well.

To get a taste of this town’s history, you may want to visit the Cashmere Museum and Pioneer Village. The Village features 20 original buildings, including shops, a schoolhouse, a doctor’s office, and homes. The museum boasts ancient Native American artifacts, historical photographs, and information about how indigenous peoples lived thousands of years ago in this beautiful landscape.

Following the construction of the Peshastin irrigation ditch in the 1890s, the area became ideal for agriculture and fruit production, and is still home to many apple and pear orchards. Some say Cashmere is the best place in the US to grow pears.  You can enjoy the fruit for yourself any of the numerous orchards or at the Cashmere Cider Mill.

With a population of approximately 3,000, Cashmere is a picturesque small town whose Cottage Avenue District historic homes and family-owned shops and restaurants welcome visitors from around the state. You can explore "Tree City USA" and its surrounding areas by foot or by bike, or if you're feeling particularly adventurous, in a paraglider. With over 300 days of sun, it is truly a town suited for four seasons of adventure and recreation.
