Bellingham

Courtesy of WikipediaBellingham, located just 31 miles from Mount Baker’s 10,778 foot summit, sits on the shore of Bellingham Bay. This diversity of terrain, from mountain top to ocean, gives the town access to an incredible range of recreation opportunities.

In 2001, Bellingham was named one of Outside magazine’s top 10 “Dream Towns” for its access to outdoor recreation. Within the city, there are miles of biking and hiking trails and all that’s needed to go kayaking in Puget Sound is a boat and a walk down to the town’s waterfront. The annual Ski to Sea Race involves 82.5 miles of cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, running, road and mountain biking, canoeing, and kayaking, and is run relay-style in teams of eight. From the mountains to the ocean, there is an endless supply of recreation opportunities in this city!
