Cascades Citizen Wildlife Monitoring Project

When:
Jan 1 2012 - 12:00am - Dec 31 2012 - 12:00am
Location:
I-90 Corridor

The Cascades Citizen Wildlife Monitoring Project is an opportunity for volunteers to get outdoors, conduct animal surveys, and contribute to our understanding of wildlife presence and movement in the Cascades. In the winter, volunteers use snow tracks to document signs of wildlife. Teams have trailed pine martens in the Hyak corridor and identified cougar tracks near the proposed Rock Knob overpass. Volunteers receive tracking training in return for committing to conduct three-day surveys. The project is a partnership of Conservation Northwest, I-90 Wildlife Bridges Coalition, and the Wilderness Awareness School. For more info or to volunteer, contact Jen Watkins at Conservation Northwest via email jwatkins [at] conservationnw [dot] org.
