About The Wilderness Society

Founded in 1935, The Wilderness Society is one of the nation’s oldest and largest not-for-profit conservation organizations. Our mission is to protect wilderness and inspire Americans to care for our wild places. Toward this end, we work in partnership with local communities, businesses, conservation organizations and local citizens to find solutions for the preservation and stewardship of our national public lands.
